Stellar has played a pivotal role in the completion of the UF Health Durbin Park campus, a significant health and wellness initiative spanning 42.5 acres in St. Johns County, Florida. This development aims to enhance access to cutting-edge medical services throughout Northeast Florida, particularly benefiting the burgeoning communities in the region.
The initial phase of this expansive project features a three-story, 72,000-square-foot medical office building alongside a five-story, 220,000-square-foot hospital. These facilities are strategically located within the rapidly growing Durbin Park area, offering a comprehensive range of healthcare services. The UF Health Durbin Park Medical Office Building 1 consolidates various specialty services such as general surgery, gynecology, heart and vascular care, laboratory services, neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, outpatient rehabilitation, pain management, and urology. Stellar served as the primary construction manager for this project, with design leadership from Gresham Smith.
Adjacent to the medical office, the UF Health Durbin Park Hospital boasts 99 inpatient beds and a 24-hour emergency department, providing acute, intensive, and emergency care, along with operating rooms, advanced imaging, and hybrid laboratories for interventional procedures. Stellar’s involvement extended into project management through a joint venture with Batson-Cook Construction, ensuring the hospital met its construction and operational goals.
Additionally, Stellar managed the construction of a standalone central energy plant, essential for providing critical infrastructure support to the entire campus. This facility underscores the comprehensive planning and execution required to support such a large-scale healthcare endeavor.
This project is part of a broader $1 billion investment by UF Health Durbin Park, which is expected to generate approximately 2,000 jobs in the area. As St. Johns County and Jacksonville continue to experience population growth, the new campus is poised to deliver much-needed expanded healthcare services to the community.
