Russia’s Su-57 Offer Aims to Boost India’s AMCA Program

Must Read

In a major strategic proposal, Russia has directly linked its offer to co-produce the Su-57 fighter jet with India’s own indigenous fifth-generation aircraft, the AMCA.
Ambassador Denis Alipov stated that Russia can “move confidently toward local production of the Su-57 fifth-generation fighter, supporting India’s AMCA program.” This suggests a new level of technology integration and co-development.
This proposal is the flagship of a new defense push announced by Alipov, which builds on a 60-year partnership that has provided 70% of India’s military hardware.
The ambassador praised existing joint projects like the BrahMos missile and Su-30 MKI jets as proof of successful “full technology-sharing arrangements.”
This targeted offer comes as India faces US pressure, including tariffs and claims by Donald Trump, over its Russian oil imports. Russia’s move positions it as a key enabler of India’s “Make in India” defense ambitions.
